News-Speak

Dear Madam News Anchor,

Do you sleep at night?

Or are you blind to our rights

and freedoms taking flight?

As you read your prompter

I can’t help but wonder

if you know what you speak

echoes like thunder.

Feeding the beast

that grips our youth

with the only source

they are told is real news.

These mainstream names

on the path to defame

those who report

without selling us short.

I could curse the 2D faces

behind protective screens

but I will let it go black

and process what I’ve seen.

As you do your job

I shall do mine

by studying your claims

and drawing the line

between what has been honest

and what has been funded

by cunning profiteers

and those they’ve corrupted.
